Vascular Surgery with OR Experience | Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant | Piedmont Augusta

Piedmont Heart Institute is recruiting a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Vascular Surgery team at Piedmont Augusta Hospital. This position supports the inpatient vascular service with responsibilities including inpatient rounding, first assisting in the operating room, and occasional clinic coverage. You will work with respected, highly-trained physicians within one of the nation's leading cardiology programs offering comprehensive cardiovascular services.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing medical and surgical problems
• Prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care
• Take patient histories and conduct physical examinations
• Write progress notes and prepare patient workups and summaries
• Obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care
• Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients
• Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures
• Explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patients, families, and staff
• Monitor patient progress and report to the supervising physician
• Maintain records of each patient's progress and consult with the supervising physician when progress does not meet anticipated criteria
• Manage vascular inpatient care and provide clinic coverage as needed
• Assist in the operating room as needed

Required Qualifications

• For PA candidates: Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board
• For NP candidates: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous vascular, cardiovascular, or general surgery experience
