Job Description

VIC the PICC (VTP) is a specialized healthcare provider offering vascular access consulting services to acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare agencies throughout the Western and Southern United States. As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will work collaboratively with facility clinical teams to resolve venous access issues and facilitate treatment objectives. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in varied clinical settings, observing different treatment protocols and patient challenges while providing specialized vascular access support.

Responsibilities

  • Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance and ECG confirmation
  • Assist with management of PICCs and vascular access devices
  • Provide vascular access support services including port access, line removal, declotting, and device troubleshooting
  • Educate facility nursing staff regarding PICCs, midlines, and central venous access devices
  • Work independently at multiple customer facilities

Clinical Setting

You will visit patients at different customer facilities, working both inside and outside hospital settings depending on individual referrals.

Schedule

Full-time positions require three to four days per week, including weekends, with participation in holiday rotation. Part-time per diem positions require a minimum of four scheduled shifts per month, including weekends, with participation in holiday rotation.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license
  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Experience with vascular access device management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience placing ultrasound-guided IVs
  • Ability to work independently and fulfill scheduling requirements
  • Valid driver's license with active auto insurance and reliable transportation for travel to patient sites
  • Smartphone required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years' experience in acute care
  • Experience with other vascular access device placements using ultrasound

Training

Experienced PICC RNs are welcome to apply. RNs with strong ultrasound-guided IV experience who lack PICC certification can train with VTP to become PICC certified; full-time commitment is required for training. Training is available in some locations for candidates with recent, consistent ultrasound-guided IV placement experience. Priority is given to fully trained vascular access nurses, but additional training is available for those with strong ultrasound-guided IV skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time employees are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus based on prior vascular access experience. Compensation includes competitive pay with performance-based bonuses.

Benefits for full-time employees include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) match, and paid time off. Company-provided vehicle or mileage reimbursement is available for travel between patient sites. All employees receive ongoing education, training, and mentorship, plus 24/7 on-call support.

Travel Requirements

Consultants must be willing to travel to customer facilities to fulfill scheduling requirements as indicated by business needs.
