Job Description

VIC the PICC (VTP) is a specialized vascular access consulting provider serving acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare agencies throughout the Western and Southern United States. As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will provide on-site and mobile vascular access support services, including device insertion, post-access support, troubleshooting, and clinical education across multiple care settings.

This role offers a different pace from traditional hospital nursing. Rather than working 12-hour shifts at a single facility, you will travel to customer facilities throughout your assigned coverage area—primarily Orange County and the Inland Empire, including Long Beach, Riverside, and San Bernardino—based on daily referrals and business needs. Your work location will vary day to day, giving you exposure to different treatment protocols and patient challenges across care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral intravenous lines using ultrasound guidance
  • Utilize ECG technology for PICC tip confirmation
  • Assist with management of PICCs and other vascular access devices
  • Provide vascular access support services including port access, line removal, and declotting
  • Educate facility nursing staff on PICCs, midlines, and other central venous access devices
  • Work collaboratively with customers' clinical teams to resolve venous access issues and support treatment objectives set by the treating physician

Clinical Setting

You will work across varied clinical settings, including acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare environments. Work may occur inside or outside hospital settings depending on the referral.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, active Registered Nurse license
  • Experience placing ultrasound-guided intravenous lines (USGIVs)
  • Experience in vascular access device (VAD) management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and meet scheduling requirements as indicated by job classification
  • Smartphone for scheduling and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care RN experience
  • Experience placing PICCs, midlines, or other vascular access devices using ultrasound
  • Prior vascular access or PICC experience

Note on Per Diem Positions

Per Diem opportunities are available for experienced PICC Nurses only. PICC certification training is provided for qualifying candidates with consistent, recent USGIV placement history.

Schedule

Full-Time: 36–48 hours per week across 3–4 shifts per week, including weekend and holiday rotation. Specific days are assigned based on business needs.

Per Diem: Minimum of 32 hours per month across 4 shifts, with availability to pick up additional shifts as needed. Weekend and holiday rotation participation is potential.

Compensation

  • Base pay: $50–$70 per hour
  • Profit pool participation
  • Overtime eligibility
  • Full-time employees are eligible for up to $10,000 sign-on or commitment bonus, based on prior vascular access experience

Benefits

  • Medical, vision, and dental benefits begin the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment (full-time employees)
  • 401(k) plan eligibility
  • Company vehicle provided for work-related travel when available; personal vehicle use is reimbursed at the standard IRS mileage rate
  • Gas card provided for fuel expenses when using a company vehicle
  • Technology reimbursement for work-related use of personal devices
  • Paid time off and sick leave in accordance with company policy
  • Ongoing education, training, and mentorship
  • 24/7 on-call support

Travel Requirements

Full-time Consultants are expected to travel to customer facilities throughout their assigned coverage area based on business needs and daily referrals. You must have a valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
