Geisinger's Department of Urology is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join its collaborative, nationally recognized team at Geisinger Healthplex State College. In collaboration with the physician, you will provide comprehensive care to new and established urology patients, demonstrating clinical autonomy through patient evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.

Clinical Setting

State College is home to Penn State University and was recently named America's #1 Best Small College Town by USA Today. The urology department utilizes advanced technology including robotic surgery platforms (with robot access at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital), high-powered lasers, transperitoneal and fusion biopsies, and the Epic electronic health record system. You will work within an integrated health system focused on quality, innovation, and education.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, assess, and diagnose patients in collaboration with physicians
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing as deemed necessary
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and therapeutic regimens within your scope of practice
  • Provide patient education and telephone communication
  • Perform triage and coordinate care with nursing, staff physicians, and other department staff
  • Participate in clinical research opportunities supported by the academic medical center
  • Engage in mentorship and professional development within a multidisciplinary academic team

Schedule

  • Days shift
  • 36 scheduled weekly hours
  • Regular, full-time position

Required Qualifications

  • Current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner certification and license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care
  • Team-oriented and collaborative practice style

Education and Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant (required) or Master's degree in Physician Assistant (preferred)
  • Current Certified Nurse Practitioner credential from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (if applying as NP)
  • Current Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania (if applying as NP)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in academic medicine, education, and innovation
  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant (for PA candidates)
