Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners to provide clinical services in urgent care centers across the Connecticut area. In this role, you will treat acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains, and minor infections for both adult and pediatric patients. You will function in lieu of or alongside a physician, using strong assessment skills to recognize serious conditions and refer patients to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Examine and treat patients with acute conditions
- Take patients' medical histories
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, X-rays, and EKGs
- Make diagnoses and prescribe medications
- Treat minor injuries requiring sutures, splints, or casting
- Record progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educate and counsel patients
- Order and carry out therapy with patients
- Administer vaccinations and refer patients to additional care as needed
- Work assigned eight (8) or twelve (12) hour shifts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (for Physician Assistants) or Master's Degree (for Nurse Practitioners)
- One year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care setting
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure
- Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting
- Ability to perform preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays
- Applicable office procedures including suturing, splinting, and casting
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Strong listening skills and attentiveness
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Schedule
- Per Diem position
- Must be available to work a minimum of 2 days in every 28-day block, including 1 weekend shift
- 3 days of availability must be provided
