Join Sanford Health's ICU team as a Unit Secretary/Patient Care Technician at Bismarck Medical Center. In this role, you will provide direct patient care and critical administrative support to patients in the intensive care unit, working alongside nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, high-quality care for critically ill patients.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a fast-paced ICU environment that prioritizes teamwork, respect, and professional growth. This position offers a family-friendly schedule with day shifts Monday through Friday, with no weekend requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Record vital statistics and other basic health information
- Administer basic health care and medical treatments
- Assist patients with daily living activities including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, and dining needs
- Address patients' emotional and spiritual needs
- Clean patient living areas and treatment rooms
- Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients
- Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment for use
- Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
- Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
- Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe provision of care
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
- If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or within a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment
- If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility, or be a student nurse currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications
Schedule and Employment
- Full-time position
- 40 hours per week
- Day shift, Monday through Friday
- No weekends required
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $16.50 to $24.00 per hour
