Unit Receptionist/Patient Care Technician, Part Time Evenings, 24 Hours, Med/Surg

Day Kimball Health is hiring a Unit Receptionist/Patient Care Technician for the Medical/Surgical Department in Putnam, CT. This part-time evening position combines clerical and patient care duties to support the smooth functioning of the unit. You will work under the direction of nurses to assist with patient management, administrative support, and basic patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties and facilitate clear communication to support unit operations
• Manage front desk patient interactions and administrative tasks
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing and feeding
• Monitor and record vital signs
• Assist nurses with patient care activities as directed
• Assist with patient restraint and restraint removal as needed
• Complete necessary forms, requisitions, and communications
• Accurately transcribe physician's orders when applicable
• Remain alert and maintain visual contact with patients at all times
• Assist with patient transportation

Schedule

• Evening shift, 24 hours per week, part-time

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CNA certification, or completion of one year of clinical experience in an accredited RN nursing program, or EMT-B certification, or documented/verified years of acute care hospital experience as a CNA
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent (required within 3 months of hire)
• Current NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or within 3 months of hire
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Ability to cope with and function under stress
• Skill certification requirements for designated units

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical terminology and keyboarding skills
• Experience in a clerical or receptionist position
• Previous experience in an acute care environment
