Triage Registered Nurse, Pediatric GI Clinic

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Triage Registered Nurse for the Pediatric GI Clinic. In this role, you will apply the nursing process to plan and implement care for pediatric patients with gastrointestinal conditions, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. You will effectively communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team, collaborate in establishing patient goals, and evaluate progress to ensure effective outcomes.

Clinical Setting

This position is part of Vanderbilt Health's comprehensive academic health system, which operates eight hospitals and over 180 clinics throughout the Mid-South region. You will work within the Pediatric GI Clinic, providing specialized nursing care to children with gastrointestinal conditions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum
• Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnoses
• Continually utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes
• Employ strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment
• Provide patient and family education
• Coordinate care and communicate with the healthcare team
• Further professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Graduate of an approved nursing program
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing work experience

Technical Capabilities

This position requires novice-level proficiency in the following areas:

• Care Planning: Ability to anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work. Competently handle multiple assignments simultaneously by prioritizing work into manageable units. Adapt to changes in patient care and area needs with minimal disruption. Follow up to ensure problems and issues are resolved.
• Nursing Patient Education: Provide patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty
• Nursing Patient Assessment and Evaluation: Assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Conduct primary care patient interviews and physical examinations. Recognize problems, ask questions, and contact the patient's primary care provider and other healthcare team members as needed. Gather pertinent clinical data that aid in referral, treatment, or other primary care pathways.
• Evidence-Based Practice: Search for evidence to answer clinical questions. Work under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
