The opportunity

Job Description

Join a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit as a Travel Registered Nurse for a 13-week nightshift assignment in Vicksburg, Mississippi. This multi-specialty unit provides care to diverse patient populations, including acute medical conditions, telemetry monitoring, dialysis patients, and post-operative surgical patients. You will work in a collaborative environment with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, supported by a team leader and ancillary staff.

Clinical Setting

The Medical Surgical Unit (MSU) is a multi-specialty acute-care environment focused on medical and surgical patients. The unit emphasizes pain management, mobility, prevention of complications, patient safety, and optimal clinical outcomes.

Patient Populations

Medical patients may include those with acute medical conditions, telemetry monitoring needs, dialysis requirements, and complex medical needs.

Surgical patients may include those recovering from orthopedic procedures, fractures, shoulder and back procedures, general surgery, appendectomies, hernia repairs, cholecystectomies, and colon resections.

Schedule

  • 36 hours per week
  • Nightshift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays as required
  • Flexibility with scheduling and floating assignments required

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to medical and surgical patients
  • Monitor telemetry patients
  • Manage pain and support patient mobility
  • Prevent complications and maintain patient safety
  • Float to other units and hospitals as needed to support patient care and staffing needs
  • Collaborate with nursing and ancillary team members

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Active Mississippi RN license or Compact RN license (temporary licenses not accepted; Nursys verification required)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing
  • AHA BLS certification or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Permanent address within 50 miles of facility

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of RN experience
  • Candidates with 18 months of experience may be considered

Submission Requirements

Qualified candidates should submit a resume, current BLS and ACLS certifications, any additional certifications, and 1-2 references from a charge-level RN, supervisor, or manager.
