Travel Operating Room Technician (ORT)

Operating room technicians (ORTs) are licensed practical nurses with advanced surgical skills who provide critical assistance to surgeons, nurses, and other medical personnel during surgical procedures. In this travel position, you will work as a scrub technician, handling a variety of responsibilities including setting up surgical instruments before surgery, transporting patients to the operating room, and assisting surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and performing other intraoperative tasks.

Schedule

• 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
• Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• On-call duties as needed

Responsibilities

• Set up surgical instruments and equipment before procedures
• Transport patients to the operating room
• Assist surgeons and surgical team members during surgical procedures
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team
• Hold retractors and assist with exposure during surgery
• Cut sutures and perform other intraoperative support tasks
• Scrub for multiple surgical specialties including orthopedic, general, urology, podiatry, and ENT procedures

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• Ability to scrub most surgical specialties including orthopedic, general, urology, podiatry, and ENT

Preferred Qualifications

• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification
