This is a travel nursing assignment for a Licensed Practical Nurse in medical-surgical telemetry at a hospital in Rochester, NY. You will provide direct patient care on a 14-bed temporary overflow med/surg telemetry unit designed to accommodate ED boarders, with flexible space inside GI Endoscopy. The unit census may vary. This is a travel assignment with a start date of October 5, 2026.
Clinical Setting
You will work on a medical-surgical telemetry overflow unit within a hospital setting. The unit serves adult patients requiring telemetry monitoring and may have variable census. You may float to other med/surg areas as needed. Interdisciplinary support is available, including collaboration with the IV team, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, social services, rapid response, pharmacy, and transport services.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult medical-surgical patients with telemetry monitoring, under supervision as applicable
- Maintain telemetry observation, perform routine assessments, and respond to changes in patient status per unit protocol
- Perform phlebotomy and IV placement as part of routine care per unit needs (mandatory competency)
- Administer medications per orders
- Manage wound care, dressing changes, JP/Hemovac care, Foley care, and NG/G-tube management
- Assist with oxygen delivery, EKG acquisition, vital signs, and isolation precautions
- Support patient safety and comfort
- Document in the EPIC charting system
- Complete admission assessments and SBAR communications for ED transfers and other admissions
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
Note: LPNs may not assume certain assignments or act as a resource in GIOF/med-surg and may be used as a patient care tech (PCT) as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Active New York LPN license (in-hand at time of submission; pending licenses not accepted)
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- EPIC charting experience
- Phlebotomy and IV placement competency (mandatory)
- Ability to float to med/surg as needed
