The opportunity

Job Description

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is recruiting a Temporary Nurse Practitioner for the Student Health and Counseling Center. This position engages directly with students on campus to promote health and wellness while providing quality healthcare services. You will work independently diagnosing and treating complex conditions while adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Clinical Setting

This position is part of the UAA Student Health and Counseling Center, which operates under the Office of Student Affairs. You will work with a student population on the Anchorage campus.

Responsibilities

  • Independently diagnose and treat complex conditions
  • Provide advanced physical health assessments
  • Perform accurate medical diagnostic work
  • Conduct clinical laboratory work
  • Maintain medical and legal documentation in compliance with regulations
  • Communicate and counsel students regarding their health
  • Deliver presentations and public speaking as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • State of Alaska licensure as Advanced Nurse Practitioner
  • National Certification (ANCC or AANP)
  • Significant relevant clinical experience
  • Current DEA registration or ability to obtain
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without restriction (visa sponsorship is not available)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a student health center

Schedule and Employment Type

This is a part-time, non-exempt temporary staff position. The position is classified as Temporary Staff Grade 82 on the UA Temp Staff Salary Schedule, with placement based on education and experience. The posting closes on June 30, 2027. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until a successful candidate is identified.
