The Operating Room Scrub Technician is a key member of the perioperative team who functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse and surgeon to support safe, high-quality surgical care. This position is based in Mullica Hill and offers part-time, day shift hours. The Scrub Technician is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining the sterile field, and providing instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures
  • Maintain the sterile field throughout all phases of the operative process
  • Provide instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team
  • Assist with surgical counts and specimen handling
  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team across a variety of surgical specialties
  • Adhere to aseptic technique and infection prevention standards
  • Follow established surgical policies, procedures, and regulatory standards to support patient safety
  • Communicate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an accredited surgical technology program and associated hours
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile field maintenance, surgical instrumentation, and operating room protocols
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to anticipate surgeon and procedural needs across a variety of surgical specialties

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand and reach frequently, lift 20-50 pounds occasionally, and lift over 50 pounds occasionally. Occasional climbing, crouching, and kneeling may be required. Hearing and vision capabilities are necessary for the role. The work environment includes frequent exposure to operative equipment and occasional exposure to varied temperatures, cleaning agents, and noxious odors.
