Surgical Technologist II-FT/Day Shift _Operating Room (Ben Taub Hsoptial)

Join Ben Taub Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center and part of Harris Health's public healthcare safety-net system serving Harris County, Texas. As a Surgical Technologist II, you will assist the surgical team in operative procedures, utilizing proper aseptic technique and demonstrating current knowledge of equipment, sutures, and procedures being performed.

Clinical Setting

Ben Taub Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center operating as part of Harris Health, which serves low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients throughout Harris County. The hospital is recognized with Magnet nursing excellence designation and maintains strong partnerships with Baylor College of Medicine, UTHealth, and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team in operative procedures
• Maintain proper aseptic technique throughout surgical cases
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and sutures
• Maintain current knowledge of procedures being performed
• Demonstrate personal and professional effectiveness in the operating room

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduation from an accredited educational program for surgical technologists
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or the National Center for Competency Testing
• Current CPR certification
• Above average verbal communication skills with ability to handle heavy public contact
• Computer and/or key entry experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology and word processing

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of related experience

Schedule

• Full-time, day shift position
• Weekends and holidays required
• Flexible scheduling
• On-call duties

Compensation

• $31.97 - $40.77 per hour
