Surgical Technologist II-FT/Day Shift Operating Room (Ben Taub Hospital)

Join Ben Taub Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Houston, as a Surgical Technologist II supporting the operating room surgical team. In this full-time day shift position, you will assist surgeons and surgical teams during operative procedures, maintaining proper aseptic technique and demonstrating current knowledge of surgical equipment, sutures, and procedures.

Clinical Setting

Ben Taub Hospital is part of Harris Health, the public healthcare safety-net provider serving Harris County, Texas. The hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center with a robust network of specialty locations and clinics.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team in operative procedures utilizing proper aseptic technique
• Maintain current knowledge of surgical equipment, sutures, and procedures being performed
• Demonstrate personal and professional effectiveness in the operating room
• Handle surgical instruments and equipment appropriately

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduation from an accredited educational program for surgical technologists
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or the National Center for Competency Testing
• Current CPR certification
• Above average verbal communication skills with ability to handle heavy public contact
• Computer and/or key entry experience
• Proficiency with medical terminology and word processing

• One year of related experience

Compensation

• $31.97 - $40.77 per hour
