Surgical Technician (Surgical Tech) - Operating Room, Full Time, Day/Eve

Join our surgical team as a Surgical Technician in the Operating Room. Under the direction of the Specialty Coordinator and Registered Nurse, you will provide essential support to nursing staff and the surgical team during perioperative procedures. This full-time position offers day and evening shifts and includes a commitment to care bonus potential for qualifying external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement the patient's perioperative plan of care based on physician preference cards, current assessments, diagnostic reports, and standards of practice
• Communicate safe therapeutic care for patients throughout their perioperative experience
• Prepare Operating Room rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment following aseptic technique
• Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures using proper sterile protocols
• Drape patients and assist the surgical team during operative procedures
• Assist in room turnover between cases
• Maintain and care for equipment and supplies
• Provide input for changes to physician preference cards according to surgeon requests
• Maintain a safe and orderly environment
• Participate in hospital-wide infection control and quality improvement processes
• Demonstrate effective communication, customer service, and team building skills
• Accept responsibility for professional growth and development
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire
• One of the following clinical education and/or experience:
• Graduate of an approved formal program in OR Technology, Surgical Scrub Tech, or Surgical Technology (six months experience preferred)
• Licensed Practical Nurse eligible to practice in Virginia with one year of operating room experience
• Trained Scrub/Operating Room Tech with a minimum of seven years of hospital operating room experience
• Must become a Certified Surgical Technologist within six months of hire
• Registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Technologist required (effective December 2021)

Compensation

• Pay range: $32.44 - $45.42 per hour
