The opportunity

Job Description

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the Operating Room team. You will perform scrubbing and assisting duties within the sterile field during operative procedures, support surgical teams, and maintain all surgical instrumentation and equipment. The hospital operates 12 operating rooms and 3 procedure rooms, performing surgeries across multiple specialties including Orthopedic, Spine, Gynecological, ENT, Digestive, Bariatric, and General Surgery.

Clinical Setting

Northwest Specialty Hospital is a physician-owned facility with 28 inpatient beds and a variety of clinics and services throughout Kootenai County. The surgery schedule generally runs Monday through Friday with minimal on-call requirements for OR staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scrubbing and assisting duties within and support of the sterile field during operative procedures
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment, instruments, armamentarium, procedures, implants, and supplies used in the operating room
  • Assure proper care and maintenance of all surgical instrumentation and equipment
  • Work under the supervision of the Surgical Services Manager and at the direction of Registered Nurses
  • Work effectively under pressure in situations demanding patience, tact, stamina, and endurance

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program, CST certification, or documented performance in the role
  • Ability to achieve BLS certification within 60 days of employment
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous surgical technician experience
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
