Surgical Tech, Operating Room II

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at Sunnybrook Medical Offices in Clackamas, Oregon. In this role, you will perform the scrub function during surgical procedures, maintaining sterile technique and coordinating activities with other operating room professionals to support quality patient care.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a day surgery operating room environment at an inpatient or ambulatory surgical facility, supporting a variety of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform the scrub role during surgical procedures, maintaining sterile technique at all times
• Prepare and organize sterile surgical areas, evaluating sterile packs and supplies for integrity
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide appropriate instruments and supplies during procedures
• Apply principles of aseptic technique and ensure compliance with sterile core standards
• Assist with patient positioning and transfer using correct body alignment principles
• Participate in accurate pre-operative briefing and time out procedures
• Provide continuous reassessment throughout the intra-operative period
• Manage intra-operative patient care according to established protocols
• Examine equipment and instruments for contamination and transport used instruments to the utility room
• Complete case cart picking, restocking, and reordering of supplies as needed
• Assist with operating room needs and emergency situations as they arise
• Coordinate with the circulator in preparation for subsequent scheduled cases
• Initiate and facilitate room turnovers, including light housekeeping, equipment procurement, and restocking
• Participate in the instrument reprocessing process
• Maintain current knowledge and skills through continuous learning and professional development
• Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and attendance standards
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational records in accordance with HIPAA standards
• Attend relevant in-services and staff meetings
• Demonstrate professional communication and collaboration with the healthcare team

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology
• Basic Life Support certification required at hire
• Surgical Technologist Certificate required at hire
• Knowledge of sterile core area and sterile technique
• Knowledge of operating room procedures and equipment
• Manual dexterity with hands
• Ability to follow instruction and exercise good judgment and discipline
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with people

Preferred Qualifications

• Two to five years of scrubbing experience in all surgical procedures in an inpatient or ambulatory operating room setting
• Ability to rotate through sterile core area
• Experience cleaning and reprocessing instruments, stocking supplies, and picking case carts

Schedule

• Full-time, regular employment
• 40 hours per week
• Monday through Thursday
• 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• Day shift
• No travel required
