The opportunity

Job Description

Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Tech First Assistant for the Operating Room. In this role, you will assist the operating surgeon by providing direct patient care as part of the perioperative team. Your responsibilities will include providing wound exposure, maintaining hemostasis, manipulating tissues with surgical instrumentation such as suturing and wound closure, and performing other related tasks to support optimal surgical care. You will work under the direction of the operating surgeon and within your scope of practice.

Lancaster Medical Center is a 341,000-square-foot, 129-bed acute care hospital serving the Lancaster and York counties community.

Schedule

  • Work Type: PRN (as needed)
  • FTE: 0.001
  • Shift: Varied hours
  • Evening Shift Differential: $2.00/hour
  • Night Shift Differential: $2.50/hour

Required Qualifications

  • Three years of relevant surgical technology experience
  • One of the following certifications:
  • Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA)
  • Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA)
  • Surgical Assistant - Certified (SAC)
  • Evidence of one of the following:
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program with current Surgical Technologist certification (new graduates of accredited programs may obtain certification within six months of graduation)
  • Completion of an appropriate surgical technology training program in the US Army, Navy, or Air Force
  • Previous employment as a surgical technologist at Penn State Health on or before December 29, 2020, or employment as a surgical technologist at another healthcare facility at any time during the two years prior to December 29, 2022
  • AHA BLS certification required prior to orientation completion

Preferred Qualifications

  • NBSTSA CSFA Certification
