This position is for a Surgery Tech II in the Operating Room, where you will function as a member of the surgical team under the direct supervision of an RN/Charge Nurse or Clinical Manager. You will work as a scrub/assist person, assisting physicians and RNs while providing direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Participate as a scrub/assist person on the surgical team
- Assist physicians and RNs during surgical procedures
- Maintain, care for, and decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to manufacturers' instructions, infection prevention standards, and institutional policies
- Initiate and maintain accurate sponge, needle, and miscellaneous item counts and equipment according to policy
- Clean and care for operating room equipment using clean/sterile technique
- Identify, gather, and prepare instruments, equipment, and specialty items for all procedures in a timely manner according to preference cards
- Acknowledge and address physiologic needs for patients, including appropriate equipment sizing, body temperature maintenance, and patient safety
- Demonstrate and maintain competency as an expert in three or more specialties or service lines, such as Thoracic, Ortho, Spine, or ENT
- Act as a preceptor to other staff and students
- Assist in development of educational programs
- Serve as a resource for staff in specialty areas
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Scrub Technician program or equivalent military medical core training (not required for GI Lab)
- Minimum of one year of Surgery Tech/Scrub experience, preferably within an ambulatory or acute healthcare environment
- BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency
