Support Staff -School Nurse Floater - Pattonville School District - 2026-2027

Pattonville School District is seeking a School Nurse Floater to provide substitute nursing coverage on a short-term or long-term basis throughout the district when school nurses are absent. This position serves students in a K-12 school setting, focusing on health assessment, screening, intervention, and referral to minimize absences due to illness, maximize educational opportunities, and create a healthy school climate.

Schedule

• Five days per week, Monday through Friday
• Available to start ASAP

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments for students who are ill or injured and provide appropriate care and/or referrals
• Conduct health screenings including sight and hearing testing
• Develop and implement individual health care plans with specific goals, nursing diagnoses, and interventions
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law and Board of Education policies
• Collect information about student health and immunization status for compliance with state regulations
• Implement Board of Education policies regarding exclusion and readmission of students with infectious or contagious diseases
• Work collaboratively with lead nurses, health care providers, students, parents/guardians, school staff, and community agencies to ensure continuity of care
• Serve as a member of school teams as a designated health care professional
• Provide health education and counseling to students, parents/guardians, and employees
• Report to parents/guardians, school district personnel, physicians, and clinics as needed to meet student health needs
• Notify appropriate persons or agencies of student injuries or illnesses in accordance with Board policy
• Confer with parents/guardians, students, and school staff to interpret health and developmental assessments
• Travel to other schools in the district as needed to administer medicine and medical treatments when substitute or lead nurses are unavailable
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the lead nurse or district administration

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (R.N.) license, currently licensed in the state
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, first aid, illnesses, injuries, and nutrition
• Ability to diagnose and provide care for ill or injured students
• Ability to convey appropriate medical information to school district staff and medical professionals
• Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals and students with special needs
• Ability to describe orally and in writing school health services provided, issues, and concerns regarding school health

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Grade 215: $43,890 to $68,780 per year (189 days)
• Access to employee health clinic

Additional Requirements

• Adherence to all applicable professional safety standards and practices in the nursing field, including federal and state law and Occupational Safety and Health regulations
• Implementation of Board policies regarding medical or health care of employees and students
