Supervising Registered Nurse II, Correctional Facility at Ironwood State Prison

This is a limited-term, part-time supervisory nursing position (20 hours per week) at Ironwood State Prison in Blythe, California, located in Riverside County on the California-Arizona border. Under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive or Supervising Registered Nurse III, you will plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of nursing and other assigned staff in a service line delivery area within a correctional healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of nursing and other assigned staff
• Receive, disseminate, implement, and monitor adherence to policies and procedures
• Apply supervisory rules and principles to resolve personnel issues
• Set goals for self and others
• Ensure continuity of quality patient care
• Actively participate in and support the Complete Care Model
• Provide healthcare services to the incarcerated population

Clinical Setting

You will work in a correctional healthcare environment serving an incarcerated population. The facility is located in Blythe, California.

Schedule and Employment Terms

• Part-time position: 20 hours per week
• 12-month limited term (may be extended or become permanent)
• In-office work (no telework)
• Travel may be required

Compensation and Benefits

• Monthly salary range: $5,802.50 to $7,263.50 (part-time)
• New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary
• Effective July 1, 2025, a 3% base salary reduction applies through June 2027 under the Personal Leave Program 2025, with 5 PLP leave credits monthly

Required Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse license in California
• Eligibility: Currently in classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, in process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (SROA and Surplus candidates receive priority)

Required Documents

• Completed State Examination/Employment Application (STD 678) or electronic application through CalCareer account
• Current/valid California Registered Nurse license
• If using academic education above 12th grade to meet minimum qualifications, include unofficial transcripts or degree copy
• If using Out of Class (OOC) experience, attach approved OOC Completion Memorandum
• Resume is optional

Additional Requirements

• Background investigation using Live Scan Fingerprinting required for candidates new to CCHCS
• Tuberculosis (TB) testing required prior to appointment, followed by annual TB testing/evaluation
• E-Verify confirmation of identity and employment authorization
• Applicants with foreign degrees/transcripts must obtain and submit U.S. course/degree equivalency verification
• Do not include confidential information (SSN, birthdate, driver's license number, etc.) on submitted documents
