Substitute School Nurse

Ransom Everglades School seeks a Substitute School Nurse to provide temporary health services for Middle and Upper School students (grades 6–12) during the regular nurse's absence. This on-call position ensures a safe campus health environment by delivering clinical care, emergency response, and health coordination across the school community.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an independent school setting serving adolescent students in grades 6 through 12. This is a substitute position designed to provide support when the regular school nurse is unavailable. The school is unable to guarantee a set number of hours each week.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate student illnesses and injuries
• Administer over-the-counter and prescribed medications as needed and as ordered
• Respond to acute medical emergencies
• Maintain accurate medical documentation
• Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, and administrators while strictly upholding HIPAA and FERPA confidentiality standards

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current CPR/AED certification
• Strong clinical assessment abilities and adaptability in a dynamic independent school setting
• Clear communication skills with teenagers and parents
• Capacity to make sound, independent decisions in emergency situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in pediatrics, adolescent health, or school nursing
