Substitute School Nurse

We are seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide temporary nursing support within our educational environment. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting while ensuring the health and safety of students.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed
• Assess and monitor student health, including administering medications and managing chronic health conditions
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with school policies and state regulations
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding health issues and concerns
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school
• Participate in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including infection control measures
• Assist in the management of health screenings and immunization requirements
• Provide support for students with special healthcare needs and coordinate with external healthcare providers as necessary
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations
• Knowledge of child development and common childhood illnesses
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic school environment
• Commitment to promoting student health and well-being

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing
