We are seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide temporary nursing support within our educational environment. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting while ensuring the health and safety of students.
Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed
- Assess and monitor student health, including administering medications and managing chronic health conditions
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with school policies and state regulations
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding health issues and concerns
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school
- Participate in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including infection control measures
- Assist in the management of health screenings and immunization requirements
- Provide support for students with special healthcare needs and coordinate with external healthcare providers as necessary
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations
- Knowledge of child development and common childhood illnesses
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic school environment

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing
