Substitute School Nurse

Bloomingdale School District 13 is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide direct professional nursing services to students and staff. In this role, you will deliver first aid, illness management, and emergency care in response to nursing assessments, working within professional standards, school policies, and state and local mandates.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness and emergency care to students and staff
• Administer medications with appropriate documentation
• Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with state mandates, including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions
• Assist with hearing and vision screening programs
• Make appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter
• Maintain communication with the certified school nurse, district nurses, teachers, school personnel, and parents or guardians to support student health and safety
• Provide health services and information to enhance the health and wellness of the school community
• Support the certified school nurse in completing accident and incident reports for students and staff
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues
• Maintain a daily log of student and staff visits and documentation on individual health records
• Maintain the daily environment of the health office facility and supplies
• Utilize existing technology effectively in the performance of duties
• Pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance professional knowledge
• Perform other health-related duties as assigned

Schedule

• Hours: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
• Location: Bloomingdale School District 13, may vary based on need
