Student Nurse Extern - Summer 2027

Meritus Health is hiring Student Nurse Externs for summer 2027 to support nursing teams while gaining hands-on clinical experience. This externship is designed for nursing students currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program who want to apply classroom learning in a real-world healthcare setting. Externship opportunities are available on various inpatient units.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with basic patient care under appropriate supervision
• Support patient safety, comfort, and daily care activities
• Observe and participate in clinical procedures as permitted by scope and training
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow Meritus policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) with one year or less until graduation
• Completion of a Med Surg clinical rotation and Fundamentals/Foundations of Nursing
• Active BLS certification or ability to obtain prior to start
• GPA of 3.0 or better with submission of transcript
• Two Letters of Recommendation (one from a clinical instructor)
• Letter of Intent

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
