Student Nurse Extern (SNE)- UH Truman Medical Center Med Surg 5 North (PRN varied shifts)

Join University Health Truman Medical Center as a Student Nurse Extern on the Medical-Surgical 5 North unit. This PRN position offers nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in an acute care setting while working directly under the supervision of Registered Nurses. You will assist with patient care, apply classroom learning to real-world situations, and develop foundational clinical skills alongside experienced nursing professionals.

Clinical Setting

Medical-Surgical acute care unit at University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed personnel in delivering patient care
• Apply nursing program coursework to clinical practice
• Learn from experienced Registered Nurses
• Participate as a member of the healthcare team

Schedule

Part-time, PRN position with varied shifts. Approximately 4 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited nursing program pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing
• Successful completion of fundamentals of nursing course (lecture and clinical) with demonstrated competency in basic skills
• Confirmation of enrollment in a nursing program as a full-time student required each semester
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA while enrolled in your nursing program
• Strong communication skills and collaborative attitude
• Ability to function in a fast-paced acute care environment

Additional Requirements

• Complete all Student Nurse Extern competency training and education within 90 days of hire
