Student Nurse Extern (SNE) - NICU - Truman Medical Center (PRN 6:45am - 7:15pm)

Join University Health Truman Medical Center as a Student Nurse Extern in the NICU. This PRN position offers nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in an acute care setting while working directly under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, apply classroom learning to real-world situations, and develop foundational clinical skills alongside experienced nursing professionals.

Clinical Setting

• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri
• Acute care environment

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed personnel in delivering patient care
• Apply nursing program coursework to clinical practice
• Learn from experienced Registered Nurses
• Participate as a member of the healthcare team

Schedule

• PRN (as needed) position
• 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM shifts
• Approximately 4 hours per week
• Part-time employment

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (RN) pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing
• Successfully completed fundamentals of nursing course (lecture and clinical) with demonstrated competency in basic skills
• Confirmation of full-time student enrollment required each semester
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA while enrolled in nursing program
• Complete all SNE competency training and education within 90 days of hire
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment
