Student Nurse Extern Intensive Care Unit

Join our Intensive Care Unit as a Student Nurse Extern, where you will deliver patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor. In this part-time position, you will perform clinical nursing functions within the scope of practice of a registered nurse for all skills validated by the nursing program and documented in the Nursing Skills Checklist. When not working under the work study program hours, you may function as non-licensed assistive personnel.

Reporting to the Practice Coordinator of the Intensive Care Unit, this role provides valuable clinical experience while you complete your nursing education.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process
• Perform clinical nursing functions under direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor
• Execute skills validated by the nursing program and documented in the Nursing Skills Checklist
• Function as non-licensed assistive personnel when not working under work study program hours

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR certification
• Current enrollment and in good standing with an accredited Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program
• Successful completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing course with evaluation and validation of technical skills and knowledge as noted in the Nursing Student Skills Checklist
• Current enrollment in a Work Study course in accordance with your college or university requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrollment and in good standing with an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
