Student Nurse Extern - Emergency Department - Truman Medical Center (PRN Varied Shifts)

Join University Health Truman Medical Center as a Student Nurse Extern in the Emergency Department. This PRN position offers nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in an acute care setting while working directly under the supervision of Registered Nurses. You'll apply classroom learning to real-world patient care situations and develop foundational clinical skills in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Emergency Department at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, a dynamic acute care environment where you'll be part of a compassionate healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed personnel in delivering patient care
• Apply nursing program coursework to real-world clinical situations
• Learn from experienced Registered Nurses and gain clinical insights
• Contribute to the interdisciplinary healthcare team

Required Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing
• Successful completion of fundamentals of nursing course (lecture and clinical) with demonstrated competency in basic skills
• Confirmation of enrollment as a full-time student required each semester
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA or higher while enrolled in your nursing program
• Strong communication skills and collaborative attitude
• Ability to function in a fast-paced acute care environment

Education and Training

• Completion of all SNE (Student Nurse Extern) competency training and education required within 90 days of hire

Schedule

• Part-time, PRN (as needed) position with varied shifts
• Approximately 4 hours per week
