Join Purdue University Student Health Services (PUSH) as a Staff Registered Nurse in a collaborative, student-focused clinical environment. This 9-month Academic Year appointment offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care to the Purdue University student community in an accredited primary care setting.

Clinical Setting

PUSH is an accredited ambulatory health care center providing primary care services to students. The center is staffed by board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners who focus on student-oriented primary care and ongoing management of chronic conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with warmth and professionalism, prepare them for consultations, and conduct thorough health assessments
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, ensuring patient safety and comfort
  • Assist providers with medical procedures, administer medications, collect and manage specimens, and apply durable medical equipment
  • Educate patients, provide referrals, and coordinate follow-up care to promote optimal health outcomes
  • Accurately document all procedures, diagnoses, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR), maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Participate in nursing staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support the holistic well-being of students and the broader campus community

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Active and unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS certification
  • One year of nursing experience
  • Experience with EHR systems
  • Knowledge of disease processes and normal growth and development of all age groups
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to assess patient status and respond to emergencies appropriately
  • Thorough knowledge of scientific principles of nursing theory and practice
  • Strong communication skills, including patient teaching
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to complete duties in a timely manner

Schedule and Employment Terms

This is a 9-month Academic Year (AY) appointment. The position is classified as Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime).
