Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center is seeking a Specialty Unit Staff RN to support PICC line placement and management. This per diem position offers flexibility while providing essential nursing care in a specialty unit setting.
As a member of the healthcare team, you will provide professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. You will demonstrate performance consistent with the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan while remaining flexible to changing systems and maintaining quality and effectiveness in clinical practice.
Responsibilities
- Develop and contribute to individualized patient care plans reflecting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes
- Ensure care plans include multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education tailored to patient needs, age-appropriate care, and cultural considerations
- Discuss care plans with patients, families, and significant others in a timely manner
- Monitor patient progress based on the established plan and revise as needed based on patient condition and evaluation
- Ensure care meets established standards of practice
- Develop and complete discharge plans, identifying barriers and providing patient and family education
- Ensure patients understand discharge instructions, medication purposes, side effects, and administration instructions
- Maintain patient safety related to medications, procedures, fall prevention, decubitus prevention, and infection prevention
- Ensure optimal pain control and patient comfort; identify and discuss patient anxieties, fears, or concerns
- Maintain accurate, legible, dated, and timed documentation reflecting nursing process, interventions, and evaluations
- Utilize computer systems effectively and efficiently for optimal patient care
- Discuss patient findings and progress toward outcomes with physicians and healthcare team members
- Demonstrate competencies during probationary period and ongoing completion through departmental competency validation
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of data, assessments, and patient outcome evaluations
- Participate in departmental performance improvement activities
- Adhere to workplace safety principles and practices; apply standard precautions
- Practice customer service standards; promptly answer call lights, alarms, and patient requests
- Make appropriate referrals and facilitate patient access to resources
- Maintain and protect patient confidentiality
- Ensure clean, orderly, and functional work environment
- Treat patients and families with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion
- Provide optimal patient care experience by actively listening and taking responsibility for meeting identified needs

- Utilize payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in acute hemodialysis, OR successful completion of a Kaiser Permanente acute hemodialysis course or approved equivalent within the prior 12 months
- Active California Registered Nurse License
- Basic Life Support certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Ability to take call within a 60-minute response time
Schedule
- Per diem position
- 12-hour shift option: 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with backup 8-hour shift 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Available Monday through Sunday
- Location: Panorama City Medical Center, Panorama City, California
- No travel required
