Clifford C. Sims State Veterans' Nursing Home in Panama City is seeking Senior Licensed Practical Nurses to provide quality care to residents in a 120-bed skilled nursing facility serving a geriatric population. This is a Career Service position with multiple shifts available, including second and third shift roles that offer a $1.00/hour shift differential.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a state veterans' nursing home providing long-term care to elderly residents. The facility is designated as an employment site for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program, which may provide up to $4,000 per year in nursing education loan repayments for up to four years, based on available funds.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality care to residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with agency Standard Operating Procedures and the Nurse Practice Act
- Coordinate shift assignments and provide supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff, ensuring completion of assignments
- Assist with all aspects of resident care, including treatments, medication self-administration, coordinating medical appointments, and social interactions
- Report resident concerns and needs promptly to appropriate team members
- Monitor and support residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health-related tasks
- Follow Resident's Rights policies and maintain confidentiality of resident information
- Work cooperatively with residents, families, facility staff, physicians, ARNPs, consultants, and ancillary service providers
- Document services and care plan outcomes in the facility software and database
- Participate in staff development and orientation of new personnel
- Attend all in-service programs, training classes, and meetings
- Observe all facility safety, infection control, risk management, and HIPAA policies
- Perform other related duties as required
Required Qualifications
- Valid State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse licensure
- Valid CPR certification
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Willingness and ability to work weekends and holidays as required
- Successful completion of a Level II background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience in long-term care or a 120-bed skilled nursing facility with a geriatric population
- One year of experience providing practical nursing services
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Experience passing medications in a skilled nursing facility
- Knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Schedule and Shifts
Multiple positions and shifts are available. All Senior Licensed Practical Nurses working second or third shift are eligible for a $1.00/hour shift differential. You must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary is $50,960.78, paid bi-weekly. Additional compensation includes:
- $1.00/hour shift differential for second and third shift positions
