School Registered Nurse

Milton L. Olive Middle School seeks a School Registered Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year. This 12-month position provides comprehensive health services to middle school students ages 12-15, including medication administration, health assessments, and coordination with school and district health protocols.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a school-based health clinic serving a middle school population within the Wyandanch Union Free School District. The role requires familiarity with school medical and safety procedures and adherence to all health-related procedures and mandates issued by the New York State Department of Health and the Wyandanch Union Free School District.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to students, including those with diabetes
• Provide direct health services and assessments to middle school students
• Follow all school medical and safety procedures
• Implement trauma-informed practices in student interactions
• Comply with health-related procedures and mandates from NYSDOH and the school district

Required Qualifications

• NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or higher credential
• Knowledge of school medical and safety procedures
• Ability to administer medication for diabetic students
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with NYS Nursing Certification, or
• Master's Degree with RN Certification (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with children ages 12-15 in a school setting
• Master's Degree and RN Certification
• Cultural competence and familiarity with the Wyandanch School District and its surrounding community

Schedule

• 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
• 12-month position
• Position start date: November 23, 2026
