School Registered Nurse

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a School Nurse in Brooklyn on a school schedule. You will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, coordinating and delivering health care services to assigned students with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and follow through on provisions of health care services for assigned students
• Develop, supervise implementation of, review, and revise each student's written health care plan according to physician instructions and assessment
• Conduct staff training in medical administration, personal hygiene, basic first aid, dental hygiene, infection control, adaptive equipment, vital signs, and signs and symptoms of illness
• Handle control of communicable diseases and infections through identification, assessment, reporting to the consulting physician, and implementation of appropriate protective and preventive measures
• Integrate therapeutic intervention techniques into programs through consultation with parents, clients, and staff at team meetings and case conferences
• Develop written plans for each student to provide nursing services as part of total habilitation programs
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews as required
• Monitor required staff health records and provide tests in accordance with regulatory agency requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in the delivery of community-based health services to individuals with developmental disabilities
