Job Description

First Day Homecare is seeking a School Nurse RN to provide skilled nursing care in a school setting in Nashville, MI. In this role, you will deliver professional nursing services to school-age children, including specialized pediatric care such as tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and tube feedings. You will work collaboratively with the school, families, and the broader care team to ensure safe, high-quality care aligned with medical practitioner orders and each student's individualized care plan.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a school environment, providing nursing services during school hours and before- and after-school programming. This is a 1:1 care position focused on pediatric patients with complex medical needs.

Schedule

Schedules rotate weekly in Nashville, MI:

  • Week 1: Monday–Friday, 6 AM–5 PM (school operates 8:30 AM–3:30 PM)
  • Week 2: Wednesday–Thursday, 5 AM–5 PM

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act requirements
  • Implement care according to medical practitioner orders and the client's individualized care plan
  • Maintain and document all medical orders and changes in the medical record following agency procedures
  • Administer medications and provide client teaching
  • Monitor and report clinical findings
  • Perform emergency interventions as needed
  • Provide specialized pediatric nursing services including tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and tube feedings
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers
  • Promote safety for clients and coworkers
  • Comply with agency policies, procedures, and applicable accreditation standards
  • Participate in care coordination and attend agency meetings as requested
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current RN license in Michigan
  • Current CPR certification
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with automobile insured in accordance with state and agency requirements

Reporting Structure

You will report to the Clinical Supervisor. This position has no supervision responsibilities.
