The opportunity

Job Description

Floresville ISD is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, you will implement the district's school health program and provide direct nursing services to students and staff under the clinical supervision of the District school nurse (RN). You will work at an assigned campus, serving school-age children and supporting their health and wellness needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to students utilizing school health protocols and care plans established by the District school nurse (RN)
  • Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures, maintaining accurate logs of all medications dispensed
  • Implement mandatory screening programs and complete required reports
  • Contribute to and implement individualized student health care plans as established by the District nurse (RN)
  • Collaborate with campus principal, District school nurse, school counselor, teachers, parents, food service, and other staff regarding health needs of the general population and students with identified health conditions
  • Communicate with parents regarding individual students as directed by the District school nurse (RN)
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings for students with identifiable health needs
  • Collaborate with other professionals regarding implementation of health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) items
  • Educate faculty and staff on health-related topics as directed by the District school nurse (RN)
  • Maintain accurate student health records, including immunization records, medication administration records, and individual student treatment records
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and documents required by the district
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of Health rules, State Board of Education rules, and board policy in the health services area
  • Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student health information

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas License issued by the Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners
  • One year of experience in a health-related position, including contact with school-age children
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop databases and perform word processing
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats

Working Conditions

This position requires maintaining emotional control under stress and involves exposure to bacteria and communicable disease. You will use equipment including thermometer, blood pressure cuff, audiometer, otoscope, sphygmomanometer, vision screening equipment, thermoscan, basic clinic equipment, personal computer, and copier.

This position is nonexempt and reports to the Principal/District School Nurse. Applications must be submitted online through the district website.
