Woods Services seeks a School Nurse (LPN/RN) to provide skilled nursing care to individuals enrolled in our day program. You will serve as a liaison between the Nursing Department and day program staff, overseeing all health-related concerns and medical programming for program participants.
Clinical Setting
Our Langhorne campus serves more than 550 residents and provides outpatient and day programs. You will work within a comprehensive health, education, and behavioral health network serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, child welfare needs, and brain trauma.
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care to day program individuals, including assessment of acute and chronic health concerns and administration of medications and treatments
- Conduct in-service training on health issues for day program personnel
- Complete and maintain documentation of individual care services while ensuring confidential medical information remains secure
- Communicate acute and emergent health issues to the Nursing Department, day program staff, teachers, and administration
- Report all emergency and health-related issues to the residential nurse by the end of your working shift
- Contact guardians of enrolled individuals when acute or emergent health issues arise
- Attend day program meetings as requested and coordinate input with Woods' multidisciplinary professional staff
- Collaborate with guardians, medical providers, and professional staff to implement individualized care plans
- Orient and educate medication-trained staff on specific medical treatments, medication changes, and new medications
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, including organization of office, medical records, and nursing supply inventory
- Anticipate medical supply needs and place orders as necessary
- Ensure operation of medical equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability, troubleshooting malfunctions, requesting repairs, and maintaining equipment inventories
- Participate in regulatory inspections with preparation and monitoring of health-related documentation
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure as RN or LPN in Pennsylvania
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current driver's license
- Ability to transfer a minimum of 50 pounds
- Computer proficiency
