Mountainburg Public Schools is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide school health services at the high school and middle school campus. In this role, you will deliver direct nursing care to students, manage health screenings and immunization records, administer medications under physician orders, and respond to student health emergencies. You will work collaboratively with parents, physicians, school staff, and community agencies to support student health and wellness.
Responsibilities
- Observe special education students regularly to detect health needs
- Conduct health screenings including height, weight, vision, hearing, scoliosis, and kindergarten screenings
- Administer medications and treatments prescribed by physicians; oversee office staff medication administration in your absence
- Conduct parent conferences and maintain communication between physicians, parents, and school staff
- Make recommendations to primary care physicians regarding individual student health needs
- Maintain current cumulative health records on all students requiring nursing intervention, including immunization records and exemptions for religious and medical reasons
- Report on student health matters to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies
- Assume responsibility for emergency care of students with injuries or acute illness in the absence of a physician
- Administer first aid according to established procedures and district policies
- Implement board policy on exclusion and readmission of students with infectious and contagious diseases
- Conduct training for students related to health impairments and hygiene
- Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards
- Provide health-related lesson presentations in classrooms as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Arkansas
- Graduate from a professional nursing education program
- Current CPR certification
- Current First Aid Training certification
- Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills
