School Nurse - LPN

As a School Nurse (LPN), you will provide direct health services to students and staff throughout the school district under the supervision of the nurse manager, supervising registered nurse, and director of nursing. While assigned to a home school, you may be required to provide additional health services to other schools in the district.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing services to meet the health needs of students and staff
• Assess student health situations and make nursing decisions within the scope and standards of practice for licensed practical nurses in Alaska
• Comply with district policies and special education laws and procedures
• Coordinate with the nurse manager, supervising RN, and school principal

Schedule

• 7.5 hours per day
• 10-month work year
• Bargaining unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

Compensation

• New Hire Hourly Rate: Grade 8: $24.84 - $27.81
• Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement

Required Qualifications

• Current Alaska LPN license
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain it within 45 days of hire
• Experience in First Aid, CPR, and AED
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of scope and standards of practice for licensed practical nurses in Alaska
• Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and compliance standards
• Ability to understand student health situations requiring higher-level nursing assessments and decisions
• Valid driver's license
• Use of a personal vehicle
• Ability to gain access to military installations
