School Nurse

Franciscan Health is seeking a School Nurse to provide comprehensive health care and support to students in a school setting. In this role, you will serve as a Required Nurturer—actively listening to and assessing students, administering medications, and ensuring they feel seen, heard, and cared for.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at Greenwood, Indiana. You will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat student health care needs, including medication administration, first aid, and emergency care
• Communicate with parents regarding student health concerns
• Refer students to physicians as appropriate
• Develop health plans for responding to emergencies and disasters
• Maintain confidential communication and documentation of student health information
• Provide screening and referral for health conditions, including vision and hearing screenings
• Promote health and provide education to students and groups of students on topics such as nutrition, exercise, smoking prevention and cessation, oral health, substance use and abuse, and immunizations
• Provide leadership for health policies and health programs within the school
• Act as liaison between school personnel, families, health care professionals, and the community

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse (RN) license from the State Licensing Board
• One year of experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing, or pediatric nursing
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
