Franciscan Health is seeking a School Nurse to provide comprehensive health care and support to students in a school setting. This position is based in Greenwood, Indiana and operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
As a School Nurse, you will serve as a Required Nurturer—actively listening to and assessing students while providing compassionate, attentive care. You will be responsible for meeting the health care needs of the school community through clinical assessment, treatment, and advocacy.
Responsibilities
- Assess and treat student health care needs, including medication administration, first aid, and emergency care
- Communicate with parents regarding student health concerns and coordinate care
- Refer students to physicians when appropriate
- Develop health plans for responding to emergencies and disasters
- Maintain confidential communication and documentation of student health information
- Provide screening and referral for health conditions, including vision and hearing screenings
- Promote health and provide education to students and groups on topics including nutrition, exercise, smoking prevention and cessation, oral health, substance use and abuse, and immunizations
- Provide leadership in developing and implementing health policies and health programs for the school
- Act as liaison between school personnel, families, health care professionals, and the community
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Indiana State Licensing Board
- One year of experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing, or pediatric nursing
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
