Fisher-Titus is seeking a School Registered Nurse to serve as the school nurse in assigned building(s) for seven hours per day. You will be responsible for reviewing documentation of health concerns, preparing Individualized Health Plans, and serving as a resource to school administration. This role involves performing high-level nursing duties for students with special health care needs, including diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders, and allergies. You will provide staff education regarding student illnesses and conditions, administer medications with school system backup staff, assist with mandated reporting of abuse and neglect, and support communicable disease management.
Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned students
- Develop, discuss, and communicate realistic plans of care in collaboration with students and support persons
- Implement medical plans of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary
- Evaluate identified problems, care provided, and patient responses to ensure quality care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care provided
- Maintain current knowledge, certifications, and licensure; pursue professional growth and development
- Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and employees
- Attend all required safety training programs and follow hospital exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens
- Promote effective working relations and function as part of the department/unit team
- Function as a role model and provide support and development for current and new staff
- Direct other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care as assigned
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as necessary
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
- BLS certification
- Current state license in the state of Ohio
