School Nurse

This School Nurse position provides comprehensive health care services to students in a school setting. You will assess student health needs, develop and implement health care plans, administer medications, and provide acute, chronic, episodic, and emergency care. The role requires close collaboration with school administration, staff, parents, physicians, and the medical community to support student health and educational achievement.

Responsibilities

• Assess student health status and identify health problems that may affect educational achievement
• Develop, assist in developing, and follow health care plans and emergency care plans for students
• Administer, record, and monitor medications for students in accordance with district policies
• Provide first aid care and medically prescribed services
• Delegate health-related tasks as appropriate and provide staff training on implementation of student medical and health care needs
• Maintain security of school health supplies and student medications
• Evaluate students and staff for wellness or sickness
• Maintain and inventory necessary medical supplies for individual students
• Serve as a liaison between staff, parents, students, and physicians regarding medical issues
• Serve as a liaison between the medical community and the school
• Report communicable diseases to immediate supervisor and the Health Department
• Provide families with communications related to communicable diseases discovered in the school building
• Provide follow-up evaluations on students as required
• Correspond with parents on the health needs of children
• Ensure compliance of the school health program with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies
• Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team
• Serve as a resource person on health issues
• Adhere to professional, ethical, and legal standards of practice

Required Qualifications

• All requirements for RN licensing
• First Aid/CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills

Schedule

• 185 days per year
• 8 hours per day
• Immediate opening available

Compensation

• $38.39 - $42.79 per hour plus benefits
• Pay commensurate with experience
