School Nurse

American Heritage Schools in Palm Beach County is hiring a School Nurse to provide medical care and health support to students, campers, and school employees. You will assess and treat medical issues, prevent and control illnesses, and develop care plans to help students learn to their greatest potential.

Clinical Setting

• School clinic and campus environment
• Fast-paced setting with exposure to outdoor weather conditions
• Work with students, campers, and school employees

Responsibilities

• Provide professional medical treatment and emergency aid to students, campers, and school employees
• Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications, monitor for side effects or reactions, and document all medication administration
• Develop and implement care plans for students with ongoing medical conditions based on physician orders
• Maintain health records including immunizations and school entry health examinations
• Coordinate submission of medical records to meet minimum health standards
• Communicate with parents regarding visit reasons, medications, and medical concerns
• Prepare field trip medical bags and provide nursing support during field trips as needed
• Handle employee accident follow-up and workers compensation paperwork
• Issue elevator passes and coordinate transportation for students and campers requiring medical accommodations
• Assist teachers with health education instruction
• Provide nursing coverage for occasional campus events outside normal school and camp hours
• Transport or treat students, campers, and school employees via golf cart as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree

Schedule

• 7:30 am to 6:00 pm
• 4-day work week

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk or computer
• Prolonged periods standing, reaching, and bending
