The University of Rochester is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room at Sawgrass. This is a full-time, exempt position in a 40-bed acute care operating room setting. You will provide direct patient care, medication administration, and patient education while collaborating with the interdisciplinary surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Clinical Setting
The Sawgrass Operating Room is part of the University of Rochester Medical Center. You will work in a dynamic surgical environment supporting patients undergoing operative procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document patient care, medication administration, care plans, and patient education in a competent and efficient manner, following all policies and procedures
- Identify patient problems and collaborate in developing a plan of care based on established standards and long-term goals
- Implement age-specific, culturally, and spiritually competent nursing interventions to address patient and family needs and response to procedures, therapies, and medications
- Evaluate basic and complex patient and family responses to procedures, therapies, and medications, identifying concerns and revising the plan of care accordingly
- Recognize changes in patient status and respond effectively, communicating changes to appropriate members of the care team
- Maintain positive relationships with all members of the healthcare team, resolving conflict positively and in a timely manner
- Treat patients, family, and staff with kindness, courtesy, and respect
- Communicate effectively in written, verbal, and non-verbal interactions with healthcare members, patients, and families
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and assignments to meet patient and unit goals
- Engage in continuous learning and accept constructive feedback from leadership, peers, and colleagues
- Identify and implement educational opportunities for staff
- Review and evaluate evidence from literature and best practice standards for application to patient and unit needs
- Assist with the collection of data to support unit performance improvement activities
- Assume expanded roles which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing
- Six months of experience as a Registered Nurse working in an acute care setting
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State upon hire
- Successful completion of orientation at the unit level
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Compensation
- Salary range: $80,620.00 - $108,846.00 annually
- Individual salaries will be determined based on factors including market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations
