Job Description

Concerto Renal Services is hiring an On-Call Dialysis Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care in skilled nursing facilities and long-term care settings. You will work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to deliver safe and effective hemodialysis therapy to patients with end-stage renal disease, operating within Concerto's policies and state and federal regulations.

Clinical Setting

You will be assigned to a specific region and may travel within and occasionally outside that region to provide care. Additional base pay is provided for out-of-region travel, and mileage reimbursement is available for all travel from your home clinic to the work site.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on direct patient care to assigned patients under licensed nurse supervision
  • Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments per prescribed orders
  • Obtain and document pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and vascular access assessments
  • Report any unusual findings to the supervising nurse
  • Set up, operate, and perform safety checks on hemodialysis machines
  • Administer heparin as permitted by state law
  • Accurately document patient treatment details
  • Prepare laboratory specimens as prescribed
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Schedule

This is a salaried on-call position. You will be on call five days a week (Monday through Friday) plus two Saturdays per month. Actual workdays vary based on coverage needs. You are eligible for overtime.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR certification or completion upon starting in the unit
  • Minimum of two years of dialysis technician experience
  • Dialysis certification required
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This role requires frequent standing, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. You may need to move equipment up to 200 pounds with assistance. The position demands sustained mental, visual, and auditory focus. The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility with climate control, moderate noise levels, and potential exposure to infectious materials.
