The opportunity

Job Description

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Registered Nurse for a supplemental role in Preoperative/Operating Room/Endoscopy/IV Infusion services. This position offers varied daytime hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM with no on-call requirements. You will collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to deliver patient care using the nursing process, including conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatments, providing patient education, and maintaining medical records.

Schedule

  • Varied days, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • No on-call required

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Current Texas RN license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience (RN I level)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Perioperative experience
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Additional Certifications

  • Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe and appropriate care to patients according to nursing skills inventory and patient age and needs
  • Coordinate planning for nursing care delivery with an interdisciplinary team and make appropriate clinical decisions
  • Collaborate with, direct, and delegate to the healthcare team to achieve positive outcomes based on data, research, evidence, and professional standards of care
  • Coordinate treatment plans and develop/implement discharge and transfer plans
  • Participate in systematic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement, and client-centered outcomes
  • Consider diverse patient needs throughout the continuum of care and provide service according to established standards
  • Adhere to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards
  • Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards
  • Manage time, supplies, and resources effectively while maintaining productivity and quality of service
  • Promote professional growth and development by meeting mandatory and continuing education requirements and skills competency; may serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
  • Create compassionate and personalized experiences for patients and colleagues
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • RN I: Less than 1 year
  • RN II: 1-3 years
  • RN III: 3-10 years
  • RN IV: 10+ years
