The opportunity

Job Description

Moffitt Cancer Center's Operating Room is seeking a Full-Time Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a rapidly growing perioperative team. This role offers the opportunity to expand clinical expertise while working with advanced surgical technologies in one of Florida's busiest minimally invasive and robotic cancer surgery programs.

You will deliver individualized quality nursing care to cancer patients and families in accordance with established hospital guidelines, the nursing professional practice model, and ANA code of ethics. The role emphasizes patient and family-centered care using Duffy's quality caring model, which includes collaboration, dignity and human respect, healing environment, information sharing, and attention to biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs.

Clinical Setting

The Operating Room supports a wide variety of surgical procedures, including gastrointestinal (GI), genitourinary (GU)/urology, gynecologic (GYN), breast, plastic and reconstructive, cutaneous, general surgery, brachytherapy, bronchoscopy, and emergent surgical cases. Operating rooms are equipped with advanced imaging, image-guided surgical technology, and intraoperative radiation therapy capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide circulating and/or scrub nursing care in the operating room
  • Use the nursing process to effectively plan and manage quality patient care
  • Address biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs
  • Document care in a timely manner with evidence of age-appropriate consideration
  • Participate in a collaborative practice environment supported by shared governance
  • Contribute to clinical and operational decision-making within Perioperative Services

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room RN experience as both a circulator and/or scrub nurse in a hospital and/or ambulatory surgery setting
  • Active RN license
  • BLS certification
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment with flexibility and adaptability

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Day shift: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Four 10-hour shifts per week
  • No weekends or holidays (except during rotating call requirement, which includes weekends and holidays)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $40.27 - $60.40 per hour
