The opportunity

Job Description

ProMedica is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as School Nurse at Sylvania School Clinic. In this role, you will provide direct care to students in a school setting, including treating injuries, acute illness, and managing chronic diseases and special health care needs.

You will act as a liaison between school personnel, families, and health care professionals, communicating with parents and guardians, physicians, advanced practice providers, and school staff. You will screen for health conditions and health problems as required and provide health care education to students, parents, teachers, and other school personnel.

This is a leadership role in which you will lead health policies and programs, health promotion and protection initiatives, and chronic disease management. You will coordinate school health programs, school wellness policies, mental health protection and intervention, and related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to students, including treatment of injuries and acute illness
  • Manage chronic diseases and long-term health care needs for students with special health care needs
  • Screen for health conditions and health problems as required
  • Serve as liaison between school personnel, families, physicians, and community health care professionals
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student health
  • Provide health care education to students, parents, teachers, and school personnel
  • Lead health policies and programs
  • Coordinate health promotion and protection initiatives
  • Coordinate chronic disease management programs
  • Coordinate school health programs and school wellness policies
  • Lead mental health protection and intervention efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Ohio
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be registered and licensed with the Ohio Department of Education
  • Must pass required background check before starting

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in pediatric, school health, or public health nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN)
